Since his highly acclaimed New York recital debut in the Young Concert Artists, Inc. series, Marcus Thomas has enjoyed a long and remarkable career and has been hailed for his authentic style, facility and embellishments.
In November 2008, the Boston Chamber Music Society appointed Marcus Thompson as Artistic Director. Musical America‘s Susan Elliott reported, “In what is being defined as a unanimous decision among its board of directors….violist Marcus Thompson to succeed Ronald Thomas as artistic director…”
Thompson has appeared as soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Chicago Sinfonietta. As a recitalist, he has performed on series at New York’s Carnegie Recital Hall and the Metropolitan Museum, at the Terrace Theater in the Kennedy Center, at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis and at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco. He is also a member of the Boston Chamber Music Society, performs regularly in chamber music festivals in Los Angeles, Sitka, Seattle and Amsterdam, and as a guest of the Audubon, Cleveland, Emerson and Vermeer Quartets.
