Tanja Becker-Bender, ViolinTanja Becker-Bender, characterized by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as a violinist of “completely mature virtuosity and phenomenal intensity of expression and balance,” performed as a soloist under the baton of Kurt Masur, Uriel Segal, James DePreist, Carl St. Clair, Hubert Soudant and Fabio Luisi, with orchestras such as the Tokyo Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony, Singapore Symphony, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony and Houston Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, and the Vienna and Prague Chamber Orchestras. Her interpretations of the violin concertos by Beethoven and Brahms find as much critical acclaim as those of Bartók, Berg, Stravinsky, Weill, Korngold, and Philip Glass; among the premieres she has given is the Violin Concerto by Rolf Hempel and a recent performance of Cristóbal Halffter’s 2nd Violin Concerto under the baton of the composer himself. Ms. Becker-Bender regularly appears at international festivals such as Chautauqua Institution, Festival of Flanders, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Beethoven-Fest Bonn, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Musikfestspiele Dresden, Rheingau Festival, and International Kronberg Academy, where she has also recently conducted several chamber music workshops.
